PredictIt’s market data offers researchers a wealth of information that can be used to further our understanding of a wide array of subjects in fields of study as diverse as microeconomics, political behavior, computer science and game theory. Farnoush Banaei-Kashani

Dr. Banaei-Kashani is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Colorado-Denver. His research focuses on Data-driven Decision-making Systems (DDSs) and the DDS data management cycle. His work has been applied to fields as diverse as transportation, energy, health, and scientific computing. He has published more than fifty referred papers and is the recipient of numerous awards and grants. Dr. Banaei-Kashani’s lab, BDLab, organizes research and education efforts around training in both Data Science and Data Management and Mining.

Sanmay Das

Dr. Das is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis where his research centers on machine learning, artificial intelligence, and computational social science. His work has appeared in Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, Advances in Neural Information Processing, AI Matters, European Journal of Operational Research, and many others.

Wai-Tat Fu

Dr. Fu is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as well as a part-time faculty member at the Beckman Institute of Science and Technology. His research centers on the intersection of cognitive science, human-computer interaction, and artificial intelligence. His work has appeared in Cognitive Science, Spatial Cognition and Computation, ACM Transactions of Computer-Human Interaction, and other publications.

Jing (Selena) He

Dr. Jing is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Kennesaw State University where she researches Wireless Networking and Mobile Computing, Social Network Analysis, Big Data Analysis on Clouds, and Internet of Things. Her work has appeared in various journals including Wireless Communications and Computing, International Journal of Sensor Networks, Computer Education, Journal of Communications, and others.

Panos Ipeirotis

Dr. Ipeirotis is a Professor and George A. Kellner Faculty Fellow in the Stern School of Business at New York University where he researches Crowdsourcing, Online Labor Markets, Social Media Analytics, Data Mining, and Information Retrieval. He has received nine “Best Paper” awards and nominations. His work has appeared in journals as diverse as Information Systems Research, Computer Networks, Management Science, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, and Judgment and Decision Making.

Jyh-Charn (Steve) Liu

Dr. Liu is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University where his research focuses on real-time distributed computing systems, behavior modeling and simulation, and cyber physical systems security. His work has been published in journals such as Fullerenes, Nanotubes, and Carbon Nanostructures, Molecular Imaging and Biology, Chemical Science, Energy & Environmental Science, and Journal of Infectious Disease.

Mingyan Liu

Dr. Liu is Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan where her research focuses on optimal resource allocation, sequential decision theory, incentive design, and performance modeling and analysis within the context of communication networks. Her work has appeared in IEEE Trans. on Mobile Computing, ACM Trans. on Sensor Networks, IEEE Trans. on Information Theory, Journal of Ad Hoc Networks, and many others.

Mitsunori Ogihara

Dr. Ogihara is Professor of Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Music Media and Technology at the University of Miami where his research focuses on data mining, bioinformatics, music data mining, and computational complexity theory. He has authored, co-authored, or edited multiple books, textbooks, and volumes. His work has appeared in journals such as Electronic Library, Administration and Policy in Mental Health and Mental Health Services Research, Expert Systems with Applications, Applied Intelligence, and many others.

KyungEun Park

Dr. Park is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer and Information Science at Towson University. Her areas of expertise include Semantic Web/Ontology, Sensor Cloud Framework, Smart Collaboration, and Behavior-Sensitive Game. Her work has appeared in the International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks as well as numerous publications of conference proceedings.

Todd A. Proebsting

Dr. Proebsting is Professor and Department Head in the Computer Science Department at University of Arizona. Prior to academia, Dr. Proebsting worked at Microsoft where he spearheaded the Windows Azure project as well as their use of prediction markets to forecast future events. His research interests are in cloud computing, programmer productivity, and information aggregation and incentives. His work has appeared in numerous professional journals and conference proceedings including Hot Topics in Operating Systems, ACM SIGPLAN Notices, Journal of Algorithms, Journal of Prediction Markets, and others.

Ünal "Zak" Sakoglu

Dr. Sakoglu is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at Texas A&M University at Commerce where his research focuses on dynamic multivariate pattern recognition, data-mining, and machine-learning with applications in medical technology. His work has been published in journals such as Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, Expert Systems with Applications, Advances in Engineering Software Journal, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Stefan Scherer

Dr. Scherer is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California where his research focuses on multi-modal behavior analytics and machine learning (with applications to healthcare) and automatic and virtual human interpersonal skill training. His work has appeared in journals such as Computer Speech and Language, Pattern Recognition Letters, Speech Communication, and Journal on Multimodal User Interfaces,.

Michael Skirpan

Mr. Skirpan is a candidate for the Ph.D. in Education Foundations, Policy, and Practice in Computer Science at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Mr. Skirpan works with Fast Forward Labs and co-founded CoLab, a membership network that supports organizations with ethical missions and democratic labor structures. CoLab focuses on moving education toward project-based learning, supporting social justice and the arts. His work has appeared in SIGSCE 2015.

Lyle Ungar

Dr. Ungar is Professor of Bioengineering, Computer and Information Science, Genomics and Computational Biology, Operations and Information Management, and Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania where he works to develop scalable machine learning and text mining methods for use in psychology and medical research. His work has appeared in journals such as Semeval, Technology Management for Emerging Technologies, ACM Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, and in dozens of conference proceedings.

Greg Ver Steeg

Dr. Ver Steeg is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California where he works to understand practical methods for inferring meaningful structure in complex systems. His work has appeared in Physical Review, Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence, Journal of Physics, Classical and Quantum Gravity, Mining and Learning from Graphs, and many others.

Dong Xu

Dr. Xu is the James C. Dowell Professor and Department Chair, Computer Science at the University of Missouri where his research focuses on bioinformatics, protein structure prediction, and computational systems biology. He is a Fellow of the AAAS. His work has appeared in Nature, Cell, Hepatology, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, and others.

Zhi-Li Zhang

Dr. Zhang is the Qwest Chair Professor and McKnight Distinguished University Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota where his research centers on the areas of computer communication and networks, Internet technology, and multimedia and emerging applications. He is an Associate Editor for both the Springer Journal of Computational Social Networks and the Journal of Computer Science and Technology published by the Chinese Academy of Natural Sciences. His work has appeared extensively in edited volumes, journals and conference proceedings including The 2014 Internet Measurement Conference, The 22nd IEEE International Conference on Network Protocols, ACM SIGCOMM 2013, Internet Mathematics, ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks, and many others.

Steven Wu

Dr. Wu has been an associate professor at The Ohio State University. His research and teaching interests are in the areas of Applied Contract Theory and Incentive Systems, Applied Microeconomics, Experimental Economics, Regulation and Public Policy related to Agricultural Contracting.

Lawrence Ausubel

Dr. Ausubel is Professor of Economics at the University of Maryland where his research focuses on auctions, bargaining, the credit card markets, industrial organization, and financial markets. His work has appeared in American Economic Review, Combinatorial Auctions, Journal of European Economics Association, Frontiers of Theoretical Economics, and many others.

Bo Cowgill

Dr. Cowgill is an Assistant Professor in the Columbia Business School at Columbia University where he researches Applied Microeconomics and Strategy. His work has been published in the Review of Economic Studies, The Quarterly Journal of Economics, and Management Science.

Francis J. DiTraglia

Dr. DiTraglia is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania where he researches in the areas of econometrics, machine learning, empirical finance, and experimental economics. His work has appeared in the Journal of Banking and Finance, Experimental Economics, and Journal of Behavioral Finance.

Richard B. Freeman

Dr. Freeman is the Herbert Ascherman Chair in Economics at Harvard University, Senior Research Fellow in Labour Markets at the London School of Economics’ Centre for Economic Performance, Co-Director of the Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities, and he directs the National Bureau of Economic Research/Sloan Science Engineering Workforce Projects. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has authored or co-authored more than twenty books. His papers have appeared in journals including the Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Labor Research, ABA Journal of Labor & Employment Law, Critical Perspectives on International Business, and many others.

Joachim Groeger

Dr. Groeger is Assistant Professor of Economics in the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University where his research focuses on Industrial Organization, Applied Microeconomics, and Applied Econometrics. He received his Ph.D. from the London School of Economics in 2010.

Robert Z. Lawrence

Dr. Lawrence is the Albert L. Williams Professor of International Trade and Investment at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. He served as a member of President Bill Clinton’s Council of Economic Advisers from March 1999-January 2001 and previously held the New Century Chair at the Brookings Institution. He has authored, co-authored, or edited more than thirty books. His works have been published in journals such as Bridges Africa, Journal of Economic Perspectives, Harvard Business Review, World Economy, Journal of Economic Literature, and Journal of International Economic Law.

Nuno Limão

Dr. Limão is Professor of Economics at the University of Maryland where his research focuses on international trade, trade policy, and political economy. His work has appeared in the American Economic Journal Policy, European Economic Review, Journal of International Economics, and many others.

Bent Nielsen

Dr. Nielsen is Professor of Econometrics at Oxford University and a Fellow at Nuffield College. His research interests include Econometric and Statistical Theory. He is the author of Econometric Modelling: A likelihood Approach. His work has appeared in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Scandinavian Journal of Statistics, Bernoulli, Scandinavian Actuarial Journal, Econometrics, and many others.

John Ruggiero

Dr. Ruggiero is the Edmund B. O’Leary Professor of Economics at the University of Dayton where his research focuses on performance evaluation, applied microeconomics and econometrics, and operations research. His work has appeared in such journals as the Journal of the Operational Research Society, European Journal of Operational Research, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, Omega, Journal of Sports Economics, Educational Economics, and Applied Economics,.

Rajiv Sethi

Dr. Sethi is the Ann Whitney Olin Professor of Economics in Barnard College at Columbia University and an External Professor at the Santa Fe Institute. His research and teaching focuses on Financial Economics and the Economics of Inequality. He has been published in a number of academic journals including Computational Economics, American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, Journal of the European Economic Association, and Games and Economic Behavior.

Leighton Vaughan Williams

Dr. Vaughan Williams is Professor of Economics and Finance at Nottingham Trent University where he is Director of the Political Forecasting Unit and the Betting Research Unit. He researches and teaches in the areas of money, risk, forecasting, efficiency of markets, and financial economics. He serves as editor of Economic Issues, The Journal of Prediction Markets, and The Journal of Gambling Business and Economics. He also serves on the Editorial Board of International Journal of Gambling Studies. His work has appeared in Regional Studies, International Journal of Forecasting, Southern Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Economica, and others.

Justin Wolfers

Dr. Wolfers is Professor of Economics and Professor of Public Policy at the University of Michigan where his research focuses on Labor, Macro, Economics of the Family, Social policy, Law & Economics, Political Economy, and Behavioral Economics. He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Sydney, Contributing Columnist at The New York Times, Research Associate at the National Bureau for Economic Research, Senior Scientist at the Gallup Organization, Non-Resident Senior Fellow at The Brookings Institution, and holds other appointments across the world. David Yaskewich

Dr. Yaskewich is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Southeast Missouri State University where his teaches courses on Macroeconomic Theory, Micro- and Macroeconomics, and Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods.

Eric Zitzewitz

Dr. Zitzewitz is a Professor of Economics at Dartmouth College and Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His research interests include agency problems and incentives as well as market-based prediction and forecasting. Michael A. Bailey

Dr. Bailey is the Colonel William J. Walsh Professor of American Government at Georgetown University where he researches American politics and political economy. He has written two books and co-authored a third. His work has been published in journals including the Journal of Politics, American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Law, and Economics and Organization.

William T. Bernhard

Dr. Bernhard is Professor of Political Science and Associate Provost for Faculty Development at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research focuses on international political economy, the relationship between international financial markets and the domestic political processes, and the strategic choices of political actors. He has authored or co-authored two books in the field of political economy and his work has appeared in journals such as Comparative Political Studies, Statistica Sinica, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Journal of Politics, and Political Research Quarterly.

Matthew R. DiGiuseppe

Dr. DiGiuseppe is an Assistant Professor of International Relations at the University of Mississippi where his research focuses on international relations and political economy. His work has appeared in the British Journal of Political Science, Journal of Peace Research, International Studies Quarterly, Foreign Policy Analysis, and others. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Binghamton University in 2012.

Donald Green

Dr. Green is the Burgess Professor of Political Science at Columbia University. He researches topics including American Politics and Research Methods. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2003. His work has been published in multiple academic journals including Annals of Statistics, Annual Review of Law and Social Science, Political Communication, Science, American Journal of Political Science, and Public Opinion Quarterly.

Michael J. Jensen

Dr. Jensen is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis at the University of Canberra. He authored or co-authored multiple books. His work has appeared in edited volumes as well as journals and conference proceedings such as Policy Studies and Information, and Communication & Society. His research focuses on political engagement and political communication primarily through the use of computational social science methods.

David Leblang

Dr. Leblang is Department Chair and Professor of Politics in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia as well as a Faculty Associate at the Miller Center where he is the J. Wilson Newman Professor of Governance. He is also Professor of Public Policy at the Batten School for Leadership and Public Policy and Director of the Global Policy Center. His work focuses on international political economy with expertise in international immigration, financial crises, and international political economy. His work has appeared in The American Political Science Review, International Organization, World Politics, and The American Journal of Political Science.

Brad L. LeVeck

Dr. LeVeck is an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Merced where his research focuses on the use of experiments and mathematical models to study learning and strategic decision-making in politics. His work has appeared in such journals as the American Political Science Review, Journal of Politics, International Organization, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

John Sides

Dr. Sides is an Associate Professor of Political Science at George Washington University where he researches Campaigns and Elections among other topics. He has co-authored two books including The Gamble: Choice and Chance in the 2012 Election (with Lynn Vavreck) and Campaigns and Elections: Rules, Reality, Strategy, Choice (with Daron Shaw, Matt Grossmann, and Keena Lipsitz). Chris Weber

Dr. Weber is an Associate Professor of Political Science at University of Arizona where his research interests focus on political methodology. Neeraj Bharadwaj

Dr. Bharadwaj is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where his research focuses on marketing accountability, firm capabilities and methodologies in the era of Big Data, and customer-focused enterprises. Neal M. Burns

Neal Burns is Professor of Advertising at The University of Texas at Austin. He was previously Director of Marketing at Honeywell Aerospace, Founder & CEO of The Burns Group, and then Senior Partner, Director, Research & Account Planning at Carmichael Lynch.

Stan Dimitrov

Dr. Dimitrov is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management Sciences at the University of Waterloo where he considers various theoretical and applied problems in prediction markets. His past and recent work considers the impact of strategic traders and risk-averse traders on prediction market mechanisms. In addition, he looks at quantifying the differences between subsidies and unsubsidized prediction markets. Nikunj Kapadia

Dr. Kapadia is Professor of Finance at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where his research centers on option pricing, volatility, and credit and default risk. His work has appeared in journals such as Review of Derivatives Research, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Finance, and Journal of Fixed Income.

Yan Lu

Dr. Lu is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Central Florida where her research focuses on alternative investments and behavioral finance. Her work has appeared in Management Science and was featured in articles by CNN, The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, and other periodicals. She has presented her work at universities and conferences in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Felix Meschke

Dr. Meschke is an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Kansas School of Business where his research focuses on corporate finance and governance, mutual funds, investments, and international finance. His work appeared most recently in the Journal of Corporate Governance, Journal of Financial Economics, Business and Politics, and the Journal of Banking & Finance.

Özde Öztekin

Karl Rohe

Dr. Rohe is an Assistant Professor of Statistics with a courtesy appointment in Electrical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where his research centers on network analysis, quantitative inference, and statistical machine learning. Thomas A. Severini

Dr. Severini is Professor of Statistics at Northwestern University and a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. He has written three books and co-edited a fourth.
